Newly diagnosed with LD between Covid vaccination injection

I’m assuming the risk is theoretical, in that depending on the vaccination the antibiotic could in theory prevent it from working. That’s my guess, but I’m not sure I buy thats a real risk. You could always wait the two weeks before starting tho.

Might help if we knew which antibiotic?

Hello, I apologize if this has already been addressed. I wasn't able to find anything during my quick search.

about 1 week ago I received my first dose of the Covid vaccination. Then yesterday I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. The doctor wants me take take a month of antibiotics. So today I filled the prescription and read the warning information that came with it. It says something like not to get vaccines while on the antibiotic. However, the CDC website says that it's ok to get the covid vaccine while on antibiotics. I have one more Covid vaccination injection in 2 weeks. So my question is, is it really ok to be on the antibiotics when I get the 2nd vaccine, or should I wait? Has anyone had this situation happen with them?

Did you recently get a tick bite?
Or is this chronic Lyme and you’ve had symptoms for awhile?

If you’ve had lyme awhile - ie chronic infection - then you could get the 2nd vaccine and hold off the abx for a few weeks.

On the other hand - if you recently got a tick bite and it’s only been a few weeks since - I would do the abx ASAP.
You will need to treat until symptoms are gone plus a few weeks.
You don’t want it to become a chronic infection.

Yeah I think it's unlikely to be a safety issue.. dcds theory is probably correct on how the abx could possibly change the way your immune system responds to the vax.. if it does it would probably just be making the vax a little less effective. Maker of doxy happy to remove potential liability for something like that.

Good morning. I thought I would post an update as sometimes I find reading updates from other people helpful.

I ended up getting the second vaccination dose after much consideration. I also started and then finished the month of antibiotics that my doctor recommended. It was an awful time. I was so sick. Sick from the Lyme, sick from the side effects of the antibiotics, and more. Let's just say that it was one of the roughest periods I have ever had in my life. At one point it was hard to know if it was the Lyme disease, the antibiotics, the medicine I took to allow me to take the antibiotics, or the covid vaccine that was making me so sick. My body inside and out was one ball of sickness. My joints hurt, my head and stomach hurt all the time, my hands, face and big toes were getting numb or tingly, and my skin was red, rashy, and my lips were blistering. And then... I felt good for a day and a half. The antibiotics and the other medications had ended and I felt I was on the road to some type of recovery.

Then I got sick. Like covid sick. So I went and got tested. Yes, I was positive for covid. So, here I sit, now on the road to recovery again. I haven't made up my mind in hindsight what the best course of action would have been through all this. I did consult with my doctor and the urgent care doctor a number of times. But honestly, I don't think they were helpful at all. I do know that I did the best I could with the information I had. I also know that those around me who also were exposed and diagnosed with covid at the same time as me are fairing much worse than me. So I do think the vaccine helped me to not experience covid as bad as others, but I wonder if I would have gotten it at all if my immune system hadn't been so trashed already, like if it was healthy and strong and vaccinated, not run down like I described earlier. I don't know. And I am not asking for any answers from anyone. Just putting this out there for others who may find knowing about my experience helpful.
