Hi All - I've read several threads about people using the DNA Connexion lab for Lyme testing. After testing positive on the ELISA test, but negative on the Western Blot I consulted with a LLMD. He recommended the DNA Connexion test. It confirmed my Lyme diagnosis, and also showed that I was positive for relapsing fever. I just thought that I'd share another person's experience with this lab. Many thanks to all of you for sharing your stories and advice!

Do your symptoms fit for relaxing fever? I've had three tests Dr. Jernigan sent to R.E.D. Labs in, I think, Belgium. They all came back positive over a 8 month period for relapsing fever, but symptoms don't seem to fit. But that may not mean anything.

How about you?

Hi Running wild, I definitely had symptoms that started with a fever (but that could have been the Lyme). The fever, however, would come and go. I also was very nauseated in the beginning.

Hi Walkingbyfaith, My only positive band on the Western Blot was 41. Interestingly, my regular PCP felt that the positive ELISA with one positive band was probably Lyme; so, she started me on 30 days of doxycycline. Since I live in an area with a high rate of Lyme, I was told to consult with a LLMD to test for coinfections through igenex or DNA Connexions.

Yes. There are many who only have band 41. My first WB, I had 41 and 66. With Igenex, I had 41 and 39 was indeterminate. I then did DNA Connexions and it came back positive for Lyme and Ehrlichia.

The LLMD you found - he/she is continuing treatment past 30 days, right? Does this doctor treat coinfections, too? Babesia and bartonella are coinfections that often need treatment but don’t always show up positive on testing even when they’re present.
