fluoroquinolone for procedure.

They just tried to give me a fluoroquinolone for a suspected UTI. I would not take it. Thankfully i didnt because the culture ended up coming back negative.

But i have seen too many people come into the neuropathy group with fluoroquinolone toxicity aka floxxing. It is possibly the worst chronic illness I've ever seen, and it doesnt respond to anything. Odds are low, but not worth the risk in my opinion.

Yup. I think that makes sense. One of the problems I've seen is that people who have taken a fluoroquinolone and then go on to develop autoimmunity or weird new symptoms or neuropathy or joint pain, all of which they can cause, will never quite be sure if the fluoroquinolone did it, and that adds a huge source of stress.

Some drs are really uppity about it though. "Dont believe what you read on the internet". But there's a black box warning, and i think its more prevalent than they let on, because like i've said, i just have met a lot of people in the neuropathy group, and its heartbreaking

Thank you everyone for the help. What an awful drug! I called the office and they will be switching me to a different antibiotic not sure what yet. I am a little nervous about the procedure, I have heard that some people believe that fibroids are a result from parasites and when you cut off their blood supply they get angry and fight back. If any one has any advice on having a surgery with Lyme please let me know. Thank you so much again!
