Igenex offers new Bartonella testing.

its a useful test but i noted a couple of things

1, for their sensitivity study - ( they claim 100% .....) they used only people who had already tested positive via another antibody/serological test method - this is problematic, logically - as they are testing it only on people who they already know are producing lots of detectable antibodies. it would have ben more useful as a test of the claim of improved sensitivity if they tested it against people who were culture or PCR positive - but serologically negative by other methods.

2, the numbers were very small for both sensitivity and specificity studies

3, speaker/presenter was the famous Dr Burrascano

Over the years, I have seen numerous "new" tests being introduced as better and more reliable. Over time, seems they end up still being a crap shoot, just maybe with a little better odds.

Garzie makes some good points. I'm glad Rainy Cloud posted it, and I am not trying to say this test isn't any better than others previously introduced. Not agreeing with it or against it, but the COVID vaccine has me thrown in the same way. Just had a good friend who did the shot then ends up in the hospital with COVID three weeks later. Now I read it at least makes symptoms less. Before, I had read it would make one immune. I'm not a pro or anti vaccine person. Just try to look at all sides and make a decision.

Point is, all testing takes time to really know how effective it is. And the mention of the COVID vaccine was not meant to turn this into a COVID shot debate. Just tests/ treatments in general, especially when it comes to Lyme. My hope is the Bartonella test is as good as they are indicating.

I'd like to see a test that can tell us if we still have active infection....or if we can attribute our lingering symptoms to damage (that may be temporary) rather than active infection.


I don't think we have one yet? Or is the immunoblot going to tell us that?

I'm actually not getting the covid vaccine myself.

And I have no idea if this bartonella test is any good, just figured I would post it here.

It's like doing a taste test to find out what is ketchup, but every sample is ketchup lol.

Dr Burrascano is one of the first LLMD’s.
He wrote guidelines

I am forced to get the vax or can’t work - unless I get another job.

I have until Oct1 to get both shots or I can’t work there.
Masks won’t suffice.

I work in a Long Term Care facility - but in the kitchen so don’t come in contact with residents much.

Plus we only have something like 40 active cases in our city.

my issue was more they claim that it works better than other serological tests - but they then tested it on people which serological tests already work for - its kind of broken logic
to be better than the existing serological tests it needs to work where those tests fail - at least that would be compelling evidence that it is in fact better - but when you look at their "sensitivity analysis" it used people who already tested positive by western blot or other serological tests - not people who were culture positive or PCR positive - but seronegative

running wild that makes me really happy to hear, because it's so important to laugh. And I totally understand how it becomes rare, it's definitely not always easy to laugh. I hope you're doing well!

Can someone tell me how the Igenx tests work, do you just order it order and take it to a blood test place yourself? And dose anyone know the costs of just the bartonella test?

You call them - they will send you the test kit. You fill out the form - get a dr to sign it and take it to a lab for blood draw.
Lab sends it to Igenex.

Best to do it early in the week - mon or Tuesday - so it doesn’t sit somewhere over the weekend

There is a price list - I will try to find it.

Thank you so much girlie! That stinks about you needing the vaccine for you job. I would in the cafeteria at a Elemtary school and I am so worried that they are going to mandate it fior us. do you know if they will be having you show proof that you got it?

They haven’t mentioned showing proof - but if there’s an outbreak they might.

I think the deadline for us is Oct 1st.

I may not have my second dose at that time - so may have a bit of time off.
We have to have second dose plus two weeks.

My first jab was July 17.
I want to give it two months - so second one Sept 16th approx.
So that’s Sept 30th. I will be “safe” to work there.

So if I delay second dose a few days, I will have a few days off (sounds like a good idea !!)

CalmLittleBuddha my doctor signed off on iGeneX and his assistant did the blood draw.
Then they mailed it for me.
That way, I didn't need to go to a lab.
Might save you an extra step.

If you can't find a doctor to sign off for it, there's an online company that signs off the iGeneX lyme test.
Let me know if you need it. I'll try to remember the name. I remember it was a lot more expensive that way though.

Again, it's cheaper to do with your own doctor, if I recall correctly.

But that website basically has a doctor that automatically signs off on the test, without any questions.
