I finally closed in on an apartment and ran a hertsmi cloth test.

Results are -
Aspergillus Penicilloides - 24
Aspergillus versicolor - 16
Chaetomium globosum - <1
Stachybotrys chartarum - <1
Wallemia sebi - 130

From my scoring this is a score of 12. Thoughts?

I know statistically this could be a concern.. I've found the search for a place to be extremely difficult and this option was sort of my fall back :/.

That’s bad. Not the worst I’ve heard, but definitely not mold-safe.

I know how hard it is to find safe housing, especially with limited finances. Any idea where the mold is? If it’s the HVAC, it could be cleaned. Carpet could be removed. If it’s widespread inside the walls, not much hope. Any prior water damage in the unit or adjacent units?

I genuinely have no clue where it could’ve came from. The place is only a year or two old. I know that doesn’t mean it’s safe, but the houses in the Pittsburgh area are more often older and they’re definitely not any better. I’m at like a 90% water damage rate with what I’ve seen. So many leaky basement foundations, that’s why I went back to apartments.

You’re in Pittsburgh? Talk to May Dooley. She’s an inspector who uses a microscope. Great lady. I’ve communicated with her by email before.

Here’s her info. I am pretty sure she is more affordable and definitely more effective than most inspectors. She’s worked with plenty of Lyme and CIRS patients.
