How fast can mepron hit?

Especially when restarting. 3 weeks on, 1 week off. Then restating on 8th day. I know mepron is still in the system so it is not from zero.

Restarting 1.5 tsp twice a day.

If you have a viral infection, a couple of hours. Atovaquone can inactivate certain viruses, and this can lead to an inflammatory response as the immune system reacts.

If you have babesia, I found that mepron alone did not do much. I needed to combine it with at least one other antibiotic, and then would get a herx after a day or two.

Yup - with its long half life something like 3 days - it’s still in your system after a week off.

I know several people who couldn’t tolerate the Mepron but they were ok on the Malarone.

I found that mepron would only last a day or two. This was especially noticeable with covid since the virus would relapse once the mepron was gone.

Maybe I metabolize it faster than usual, but do not assume that it will last a week.

I have been taking rifabutin, minocycline and clarithromycin for a long time. Mepron was added 2 months ago when i suddenly started feeling very unwell.
It is difficult for me to differentiate between herx or not. I can have a better day while on mepron and a terrible day 7 day off of it. And my baseline is very low so even if herx stops(because of the break) I can’t expect to feel better. But not to confuse situation I only ask about mepron.
So, 7 days is not enough for herx to subside? And if I resume mepron it can hit very quickly and resume/continue the herx?
It is just strange to have a better day 2 days into the break and then terrible days further into the break.

I found that mepron works best when combined with other abx. Mepron plus minocycline and clarithromycin definitely made me herx, however it only took a few days. There are some drugs that can stay in the body for a week or more, but I did not find this effect with any of the ones you mentioned.

What are your symptoms? If you start to feel worse a few days after stopping antibiotics, I would suspect that either an infection is relapsing, or your immune response is increasing due to stopping an anti-inflammatory drug (minocycline can cause this).
