did you read Mustard seed's microscopy for beginners thread dcd ?
he/ she? did a really good job of laying out what you need, for whatever it is you want to do, including what features you want - and what scopes would do it
in essence you have the choice of some 40yr old ex lab or university equipment from ebay etc
or a new Amscope or similar
btw all the non big 3 microscopes (Zeiss, Olympus , Leica - which are mega bucks new) on the market are essentially the same thing - they use the same objective lenses mass produced in china - so no need to worry about

v interesting - and seems to point to many of the spirochete like objects seen in blood to be natural vesicles or cell membrane fragments or similar - not of microbial origin acc to molecular techniques
