Teasel Root

Hi, How’s it going?

I was wondering if you have found there is a difference between Teasel Root species and their medicinal properties.

Dipsacus Sylvestris

Dipsacus Fullonum

Dipsacus Japonica

Dipsacus Asper


And Several others.

Is there a specific way best to use them? Glycerite , tincture, or tea?

Is it necessary to combine certain species of teasel?

I was thinking of starting with a Sylvestris Glycerite and seeing how that works. I've used Fullonum in tincture form. I got good results, but I increased dose to fast and had to stop. I want to try to take a break form alcohol tinctures right now.

i have used the dipsacus asperoides - which i think is the chinese version

it was fine - very potent in fact - i had a powerful herx like effect from 15 drops 3x and had to back off

i think the Dipsacus Sylvestris is the european one

i think they are all interchangeable - have never seen anything to the contrary

i would just use whichever you have available locally or from a trusted source

no need to mix them

burners recipe is
dried root tincture 1:3 45% alcohol

i am not a fan of glycerite tinctures - it is a far inferior solvent to alcohol

you could try it as a tea - most chinese herbs are taken this way in TCM - as they did not have a widespread culture of distilling alcohol. doses are typically a bit higher than powder or tincture to compensate for any lack of extraction.

alternatively - i use a small reptile heating mat to sit my tincture on at 40 degrees Celsius ( around body temperature) for 4-5hrs before taking them - i take a lot and otherwise i would be permanently tipsy!!

this works to remove most of the alcohol by evaporation without damaging the herbs

BTW, Did you feel the sensation of your muscles/tendons/ligaments rearranging into the right place while on Teasel? I think this is the way Teasel Heals the body, it basically returns the musco-skeletal system to its original blueprint for your body. Its like having surgery done. When I was on Teasel I experienced this feeling. Have you felt anything like this?

I bought it for my husband - I will ask him - not sure if he has started taking it yet.
