its an odd one Rainy - if i had seen your post sooner i would have advised caution / starting low
all proteolytic i have tried cause my symptoms to flare
several practitioners who have written about
it have also advised that some people ned to go v low and slow to start with - eg Ann Corston in the articles and interviews she has published
in people who have gut issues and are sensitive to stuff my thoughts are it may not necessarily be to do with breaking down biofilms or fibrin systemically - but could be due to breaking down the mucous layer in the already inflamed / leaky gut - bringing more commensal bacteria into contact with the cells lining the gut ( now that the protective mucous layer, that normally forms a barrier between the gut bacterial and the human cells lining the gut, is reduced ) and more immune activation as a result.
this is not proven science btw - just my thoughts based on my own experiments and feeling that many of us with disturbed gut bacteria and lyme disease patients in general - are over reacting to their own gut bacteria.
i came to this conclusion when using antimicrobials that do not make it outside of the gut, nevertheless caused dramatic flares in my own symptoms including herx, chills, fevers, and CBC all over the place
as did probiotics and even prebiotics. pointing to an immune activation triggered by things in the gut - rather than systemic.
also - i believe its something of an oversimplification / assumption to say - as many do - that you have to give abx or antimicrobials after a proteolytic to kill bacteria that are "released" - i doubt its as mechanistic as that.
hope you start to feel better soon
