Does Licorice root help POTS or any other symptoms? What does licorice root do and what are your experiences with it? Did it cause you to Herx?

Acc to buhner.
Anti-viral. One if the 7 main antivirals he uses.
Potent potentiator of other herbs and antibiotics ( is used in many combinations for this reason)
Immune modulating.
Mildly increases blood pressure.
Caution in long term use due to very real cumulative toxicity.
So is generally used at either v low doses. like less than 1ml 3x day. Or large doses but short term.
I have had no herx from it at 1ml 3x - not tried higher doses.

Thanks for the reply! Can you stay on 1 ml 3x a day for long term? Also how Long have you been on the complete Buhner protocol?

I agree with the caution, especially if you have hormonal problems, as licorice can decrease testosterone in both men and women.
Here are a few studies on that:

Not clear exactly how long at that dose.
Obviously buhners protocol for lyme is long term. At least a year. So you would imagine he thinks its safe for that time.
I dropped down to around half that after a year to be on the safe side.
Been on the buhner herbs about
2years now.

People might take licorice for POTS because it increases blood pressure.
If you buy the DGL form, then it will not affect blood pressure. DGL is used for its GI tract healing properties.
