How long can you take ivermectin for

For people who take ivermectin for lyme, immune system effects, how long can you take it for?
I’ve seen people take 12mg for 14 days, some says 12 mg 4x a day for 14 days, and other seems to take it for longer. And how often can you repeat a cycle?

I haven’t been prescribed ivermectin for anything other than Covid.
LLMD MR used to have ivermectin as one option for Babesia treatment but I just checked and it’s not listed anymore.

After I got covid, I took 12 mg a day for around a month. This was after I cleared up most of the covid symptoms with mepron.

It didn't make me herx at all, so I'm not sure what use ivermectin could have in treating Lyme.

as far as i have been able to find from extensive reading its not normally dosed daily for immune modulating effects for lyme.

but more like 1 dose 1x per week - as the immune modulating effects appear to be long lasting
i have been doing so for over 6months now with no ill effects

some people do use it daily - and there are then the mega dosing parasite protocols that you mention favoured by only one LLMD that i know of (Dr K) but bear in mind the drug and its worldwide use safety data come from 1-2 doses parodically for helminth parasite infections - not continuous dosing.

my view is that when we are forced to self medicate due to lack of care from the medical system - it is still best to take careful consideration of the safety data that exists and the use case that was derived from - rather than take "a drug is a drug is a drug.." approach.
and its better not to put oneself in your own N=1 drug trial if you can help it.

This may be worth considering:

"The plasma half-life of ivermectin in man is approximately 18 hours following oral administration." [source]

Also, while not related to Lyme and/or immune-related effects, I found the following that discusses long-term use of ivermectin dosed every six months for years.

"People who have strongyloidiasis take ivermectin for 1 to 2 days. The dose for strongyloidiasis and onchocerciasis depends on the person’s body weight. People who have onchocerciasis often take ivermectin every 6 months. It’s taken for the life span of the parasite -- which can be as long as 15 years." [source]

Thus, at least for the above uses, dosing, and schedule, long-term use of ivermectin appears likely safe.

Ivermectin kills those parasites, so one or two doses is usually enough. It doesn't kill the coronavirus, and I found that the covid symptoms would come back after a few days, so I took it every day.

What ivermectin would do for lyme/bart is not clear to me.

I know I took it for a month maybe twice-pretty high doses 12 mg 4 times a day.
That was my experience
