Welcome, HealMe22!
I found that I was too electrically sensitive for PEMF therapy. I used an AmpCoil device for more than a year, every other day, and while some of the settings left me more functional than others, at baseline they all left me feeling hungover for at least 24 hours - inflamed, headache, brain fog, tired. The company concluded that I was one of the "rare" people with electrical sensitivity so bad they cannot handle the device, even though I don't experience electrical sensitivity in other contexts. Make of that what you will. I do believe PEMF is very cool technology, and definitely don't blame anyone for trying it.
MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome) is a type of immune dysfunction that's relatively common in people with tick-borne infections and other chronic conditions, in which your mast cells over-react and your body can't manage histamine properly. Having toxins in your body (like endotoxins from a herx, mycotoxins from mold exposure, etc.) can be a trigger, but other triggers can include heat, exertion, high-histamine foods, alcohol, stress, allergens, and lots of other things. Symptoms can affect the whole body because there are mast cells all over the body, so can include: GI issues, brain fog, fatigue, headaches, respiratory symptoms, skin symptoms, nerve pain and other neuro issues, dizziness, and many more. Depending on how bad a person's case of MCAS is, or how many triggers they are dealing with at once, they may need to treat MCAS before they can tolerate other types of treatment. Treating MCAS can involve some combination of over-the-counter meds (H1 and/or H2 blockers), prescription meds (ketotifen and/or cromolyn sodium), low-histamine diet, and supplements (quercetin, curcumin, bromelain, vitamin C, stinging nettles, etc.). People have a variety of responses to treatments, so often have to try more than one thing, and remove as many triggers as possible, before finding what helps. There are a lot of posts about MCAS in the archives that you might be able to find with a search. Some people think they are herxing when they are having an MCAS flare, so it's good to be aware of the differences, even though it can be tough to tell them apart.
