Vitamin d lamp

Has anyone gotten a vitamin d lamp that works? My doctor was telling me I should try one but the one he suggested is super expensive. I found blogpost that said buying a reptile lamp is the economical option for this

the ones linked to in that article are designed to have spectrums that mimic natural sunlight - including UVA and UVB with is the type of light the body uses to make vitamin D in the skin - so in principle they should work

like the article says - the power output is a little lower than the tanning type lamps - so you would need to use them for longer - moving it around to different areas of the body
