Loratadine (Claritin) makes me a little tired, but I just attribute that to a lifelong history of all allergy drugs, including "non-drowsy" ones like loratadine, making me tired. It's also difficult to tell what's what because pollen and the MCAS it triggers also make me tired.
Also, loratadine doesn't actually help my symptoms. Good times!
Quercetin is helpful for me, at high enough doses. Masking outside with a high-quality mask is helpful. Showering and changing clothes after being outside. Using a neti pot to flush out my sinuses. Keeping my histamine load as low as I can in the ways I can control (manage stress, low exertion, no hot showers, low-histamine food, etc.). Nettle tea. Homeopathic histaminum. Xlear nasal spray. Acupressure points for histamine and allergies.
But yeah, allergies since I moved to where I live now have been brutal in the spring. Last year I couldn't go outside for three months (even masked) unless I wanted to be dizzy and foggy for the rest of the day. This year, I'm less dizzy so far (yay!) but I have had a constant sore throat for five weeks (I think from the sinus drainage and irritation?). My kid is sneezing and snorting like crazy the past few days and keeps getting nosebleeds.
Checking pollen.com for my area is helpful for planning because I can decide to do things outdoors when the pollen counts will be the lowest and track which trees and plants are contributing the most pollen on a given day. The pollen predictions usually align with when it has rained, as counts are lowest during and immediately after rainfall.
