Slightly elevated blood CO2 from forest fire smoke?

The different blood tests in a comprehensive metabolic panel can very a little day today during the year etc. but I’ve never had elevated CO2 before.

I’ve also never had a blood panel test before when forest fire Smoke was at its highest peak and only 1 mile visibility.

I’m not freaked out because it’s not that elevated, range is 22 to 30 and I’m at 33. But looking at this in the past, it’s usually been around 25.

I did Google it and it said this can go up in people who smoke, I don’t. Couldn’t find anything about forest fire smoke though.

particulates in the air can go up quite a bit around forest fires - but unless you are very close i don't think the CO2 content of the atmosphere at ground level will go up enough to affect your blood levels - by which time the smoke would be unbearable

the CO2 in your blood is mainly coming from your metabolism - ie burning of glucose and lipids in your cells for energy - makes CO2 as the by product - which is passed to the lungs to be exhaled.

burning more energy will push up the CO2 level - as in doing some exercise - until the body balances it again
