Hello, I'm new here. I have a history of chronic Lyme disease. Treated for 5 years, improved a lot but had to stop treatment and had a lot of stress which caused a relapse for the last two years.
I started taking penicillin oral antibiotics for an ear infection which had spread and found generally I felt better after a week on them. I came off them and went downhill again over a period of a few weeks. Then I got another ear infection, took the antibiotics again and started to feel better again. I decided to continue with them as I read that penicillin can treat one of the forms of Lyme disease.
I managed about 2 weeks before I couldn't tolerate them any longer, due to poor detoxing of my elimination organs and herx reactions. I feel worse again since I stopped them.
Is it possible that the antibiotics were helping the Lyme disease as well? Is it possible that I felt better in such a short space of time because I thought it usually takes weeks or months to notice any difference? Or do you think it was more likely placebo?
I'm considering starting them again for a longer period of time if I can manage the herx reactions and up my detox.
Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!
