Non-drowsy medications for tension type headaches

Have you tried anything like Excedrin Tension Headache or Excedrin Migraine pills?

The problem with pain medication is that just about all of them have rebound issues if you use them more than 2-3 times a week.  My doctor once suggested something called Hyland's Migraine Headache Relief.  It's supposed to be non-drowsy and caffiene free.  I never got around to trying them though, so I'm not sure how well they work.

One of my son's takes a prescription called Phrenlin for tension headaches. He hasn't had any problems with it making him sleepy and it it works. They make it with or without caffeine and he takes the one without for the tension type. He takes his blood pressure before taking any medications. If the bottom number is a little on the high side he takes Phrenlin and if it's a little low he takes a Triptan and Excederin. Those things normally work well for him. Afrin nose spray can help raise the BP too and helps with some headaches. He avoids caffeine in the mornings if he wakes up with the tension type.
