Hey Ashley,
When I first went to the Michigan Head Pain and Neurological Institute, I had only had my migraines for about a year, so they weren't quite as severe as they are now. During my time at MHPNI I found a few medications that made my migraines a lot more managable...the only problem was that my body adjusted too quickly to the meds and they because ineffective.
Over time, the severity and frequency of my migraines started increasing until they became Chronic Daily Migraines. The doctor wanted to put me on higher doses of medications and combine more than one, but I was only 14 at the time and the meds were messing with my school and sports life, so I stopped going to that clinic. Looking back, I really wish I had continued there because they were so understanding and they really wanted to help.
The Diamond Headache Clinic is pretty similar to MHPNI in my opinion, but by the time I had ended up there my headaches had reached their all-time worst and it was almost impossible to treat them.
Wishing you lots of luck,
~Liz
