I take 8-12 m,g, of chlorpheniramine maleate (Chlor-Trimeton) before I go to sleep every night and am able to prevent a migraine attack. When I have forgotten to take the medication the night before, I will notice the onset on a migraine headache 24-36 hours later, with stomach discomfort. Chlorpheniramine maleate is an OTC medication (antihistamine) that has very few long-term side-effects outside of dry mouth and drowsiness. I am wondering if anyone else has had sucessful results with this medication in re: to their migraines.
Cluster HAs were once known as "histamine headaches", whereby a sufferer would get a CH when injected with histamine. I would have daily headaches if I did not take the chlorpheniramine maleate, no doubt.
