anyone else have a headache every day??

I get frequent HA's as well. its quite annoying. I thought it was my eys doing it- I have strabismus so I get left eye pain alot, but ive also been getting just HA's/migraines more and more. My glasses Rx is correct. IDK.

 

Im like you, OTC meds are like popping tic tacs. Maxalt USED to help but it doesnt- and i didnt even take it that long, the dissenegrating tabs make my HA worse b/c it was just so EWWW.

The only thing that really helps is Imitrex. i dont have insurance right now so im using my last 4 pills when im in DIRE need of them. I also have 2 inj and 2 Topamax. nothing else even takes the edge off. i want to do an MRI but i wont be able to for a year b/c itll be preexisting and ill be so broke paying for it!

 

If you find something that helps you PLEASE let me know. I feel your pain. i hate soundling like a baby over a headache, but its annoying when it doenst subside for days at a time. take away concentration- esp when it turns into migrianes.

I have headaches everyday 24/7. It has been 5 years. I was diagnosed with something called Chiari One 4 years ago and had brain surgery and I thought that would take away all of the pain. It didn't. I have seen a variety of doctors who first thought it was migraines, then ran more tests because they were not sure, then back to migraines and tension headaches. I have been on every drug possible. I've done the magnesium, Vit.B-2 and B-12. My doctor told me in the spring it is occipital neuralgia. We have done nerve blocks and they worked for a few hours. Now I am planning on having an occipital nerve stimulator implanted to stop the nerves from sending mixed messages. I

It took 5 years and I am hopeful that we finally have an end in site. Keep looking for an answer. I was ready to give up, but it looks like there might be one out there! Best Wishes!

Hi! I thought I was the only one that had HA 24/7. I have had them on the right side of my head for about 20 years. They started as migraines several times a week and transformed into chronic daily headaches. Depakote ER 1000 mg daily prevented them for years and then I had breakthrough pain so I discontinued it (very, very slowly) and tried cervical medial nerve blocks. After three I got about 50% relief for a few weeks, but ended up with the right side of my head being sore and sensitive, I can't sleep on that side. My shoulder is also now sensitive. These injections, for me, were painful. Some people have said they had very little discomfort. Must depend on the pain specialist. He is suggesting radiofrequency lesioning which can give relief for 3 to 18 months, depending on the person. I am afraid to do it although it is said to involve less discomfort. I don't have a good patient/doctor relationship. We are all different and these procedures using xrays and dye to locate the appropriate nerves before injection of a medication (nerve blocks) or heated needle (radiofrequency lesioning). Look them up on the internet and discuss with a pain specialist. God Bless

I feel your pain Nichole. I have constant head pressure. Sometimes, it escalates into a serious headche and I'd just as soon cut off the right side of my head than put up with it. I know what you mean though about the wanting your life back thing. I just got over having a headache for 5 days last week. It sucks not being able to do anything. with all due respect, you're married and have a husband and kids. I'm 20 years old. I should have WAY more of a life than I do but I can't because of the headaches. I deal with insurance & investments so I definitely CANT stay doped up on pain pills all the time. Just curious, but do you take birth control? That has been known to contribute to the headaches. My Rx list is in my signature... have you asked your Dr. about any of the meds listed below? The cocktail I'm on seems to be helping a little atleast. I take atleast 2 hydrocodone a day (mainly to fall asleep at night because i STAY wired all night. I end up not being able to fall asleep until about 4 am without them) but am perscribed 4 a day. You should also ask about Dervacet. I usually take those while I'm at work because it dulls down the pain enough that I can actually get things done but it doesnt put me in any more of a fog than I'm normally in.

Like i said, I feel your pain. There's a lot of us here who do and who would be more thanhappy to talk to you anytime you need anything. We're all in this together and if we can't find doctors to help us individually, maybe our knowledge of drug sideffects, operation experiences, etc. will somehow find a way to help us all as a whole.

I go to a chiropractor and I did go for physical therapy. The physical therapy worked well for a little while and I still see my chiropractor; I've learned which head pain can be dealt with by seeing her and which can't, so in some instances it works very well.

I have had steroid injections, facet blacks and radio-frequency pulse; I've had occipital, supra-orbital and along my C-spine. Everything depends on the quality of pain Dr. you have, everything! I had the RFP supra-orbital and it helped, but it was painful...very... I've switched Dr.'s and the new one is much better. I've had many occipital injects and they help too, so I'm not adverse to having them, nor recommending them.

Massage helped a lot, and not because of stress or tension, but because, in my case, the muscles carried so much inflammation, that the massage helped to relieve it. Does it cure them, not even close, but it sure was nice while it lasted!!

There are many diet triggers as well. Everything from citrus (which is one of mine) to canned figs. I mean there is seriously a laundry list. Citrus really makes my fibromyalgia flare up... but I have noticed that it also has an affect on my headaches sometimes too.

Talk to your Dr. though and tell him EVERYTHING you're experiencing... visual disturbances, where exactly the pain is in your head, neck tension, etc. All these little details make a big difference and can help to rule out possible causes.
