I've been taking Aleve to help keep my migraines to a functioning level on a daily basis. During the beautiful summer weather I could get by with 2-3 each day. Now I'm up to 6-8 Aleve each day. I know this isn't good for me. I'm cutting myself back *slowly* regardless as to whether I have to live in bed or not.
Here's what I've tried so far...
Maxalt - works for about 6 hours, then back to where my pain was
Imitrex - works for about 2 hours, then back to where my pain was
Treximet - works for about 3 hours, then back to where my pain was
Amerge - did nothing
Fioricet - did nothing
Midrin - did nothing
Depokote ER - did nothing
Topamax - every side effect possible after 2 pills, had to quit taking it
I go back to my Dr. next Tuesday! He's my family Dr., who does a heck of a lot more for me than my Neorologist did (long story). I told my Dr I want him to treat me instead of my Neuro.. He OK'd it, but made me promise I would go back to the Neuro IF we need him.
If I don't take something on a daily basis I will end up with a never ending migraine. It's bad enough when they last 10 straight days and nothing works on those ones. We're still trying to figure out what is causing this pain. I've found tons of triggers that I avoid constantly. I think it's also a lot of weather and stress triggers too.
So is there anything you take on a daily basis I should mention to my Dr. at my next appt.? I know I have to tell him how many Aleve I've been having to take. He's not going to be a happy camper. It's the only otc I've found that even does a little for me.
