I'm usually on the Crohn's disease forums but my mom asked me to go here and ask a question for her.
My mom gets terrible migraines every other week, sometimes more. They severely effect her life and work. She has tried all kinds of drugs but has never seen any specialist for it. I personally don't like her doctor, I have Crohn's disease and I went to him for years before I was dx'ed and he told me i was stressed and needed to exercise.
Anyway, he keeps just giving her more drugs to deal and now nothing helps. Please give me some direction for her. What kind of specialist should she go to? Neuro? What drugs are the leading ones to keep them away?
Thanks!

Go read my prior post "help for migraines" and start your mom there. Stop treating the symptom and treat the cause, ibuprofen.

I would recommend a neurologist who is a Headache Specialist.
I have seen several neurologists for my migraines but it is only now that I am seeing a Headache Specialist, after suffering for 25 years, do I actually feel like I am making progress.
I hope your mum finally gets the help that she so needs.
Take care,

I agree 100000% with Kala; I go to MHNI in Ann Arbor; they specialize in migraine and it makes all the difference in the world.
