My son had a lumbar puncture done 2 weeks ago and sufferred from terrible hesdaches and backache as a result. he was treated with pain medication and caffeine and he is much improved now. I wanted to know if he is able to go back to swimming training now? He is 14 years old

I think you'd best ask his doctor. The best answers you can get here would be personal and nonmedical opinions. Good luck and I hope he's doing better.

Oh man I feel for your son... when I was seven and I had my first spinal tap I will never forget the back pain I had after. I was treated the same with pain medication and caffeine. He is probably fine now but I agree it would be best to ask the doctor.

i rently spent two weeks in hospital following complications from two lumbar punctures I had on the same day, I still get back pain, but was swimming again within two weeks. When i asked my doctor if it would be ok, he looked at me like I was crazy! The swimming helped actaully. i feel for your son, it's traumatic enough as an adult!
