Since I've been having trouble dealing with my migraines on my own, I've decided to ask advice from people who suffer relatively from the same symptoms and ailments I do.

I've had migraines for three years and headaches for around five and a half. Both of these ailments are reoccurring and only go away when I've been sleep deprived by at least three days. I've taken many pills for the migraines and they have no effect. (thought, their side effects are sometimes horrific)

I've had therapy, MRI (twice), CT scan and acupuncture. Apparently, there is nothing wrong in my brain itself...

I'm at a loss of what to do about the pain...

I feel your pain, I am having one right now and I have given myself 2 shots of toradahl, one axert, etc. with no relief. I am so sick of this-it is sunny outside and I am in a dark room.
Any information would help if anyone has a certain relief experiment, I'd try just about anything.

I'm new around here, so I don't know if this has been discussed or not, so I hope this is helpful. I suffered from debilitating migraines for more than 20 years, until I discovered that aspartame (as in the sweetener, Equal) was to blame. The funny thing is, I had already known that MSG caused my headaches, but it took me almost 20 years to realize that aspartame which is very similar to MSG, was also causing me so much misery. And it's hidden in so many things these days: chewing gum, toothpaste, almost anything labeled "diet." As soon as I stopped consuming this health-damaging ingredient, my headaches pretty much disappeared. (I still get the occasional menstrual migraine.) But the days of managing almost daily migraines with fiorinal were over as soon as I stopped consuming aspartame. BTW, I also don't trust any of the newer artificial sweeteners, like Splenda, either. Instead, I prefer to use natural sweeteners like stevia.

If you haven't consulted a headache/migraine specialist, I suggest it. Maybe there is a clinic near you. Alot of areas have studies about migraine,you may want to check that out.

I know exactly what your going through. I was getting horrific migraines every 2 weeks and they lasted for about 4-5 days every time. They only ended with injections. My life was a mess revolving around the migraines. I couldn't plan to go anywhere because I could never tell when they would come. Life was a misery for everyone in my family. I had them for about 6 years.
Now I havn't had one for four months so I believe I have found a cure. I happened to come across a site called

I was sceptical at first because a lot of stuff I come across is usually a gimic, but I tried them anyway as they said they had a 85% sucess rate on most women, and you know how desperate you get.
Within 2 weeks I stopped feeling headachy and sensitive all the time. I could go out in the sun and not get a headache. I wasn't getting affected by the noise of the tv turned up too loud. It was absolutely amazing for me. I still cannot believe it. I hate the thought of people out there having migraines like I use to have.

I am new to this site and I have been on Topamax for nearly 2 years. Other than the normal (awful) side effects that come with Topamax has anyone experienced getting a rash with this drug? I am over the initial side effects however, this last side effect is not going away. In the last 1 1/2 months I have been getting hives every time I take my Topamax. (I take 100mg 1x am/pm)

This drug was my last recourse, I have been through everything else. I have had migraines since my adolescent years and this drug has helped me the most. From experiencing migraines every day practically; I now get 1 migraine every 6-7 weeks and it lasts 8 days or so...that is doable...at times.

I keep thinking I can put up with the hives but they continue to get worse like any bad reaction would do. I think I am having an allergic reaction to my migraine medication ... how unbelievably sad that is... There is another migraine medication available Depokote and I do not qualify to take it ... I need a back up plan. :-)

They are giving out free migraine medication at http://doctorstevesbanjo.com/banjo/get-banjo/ just look for the email link and send a request. It's all natural, incredibly effective and free - I'm using it, so is my wife, so is my son - knock on wood - no migraines yet.

I have in fact heard of people getting a rash from almost any medication, I don't know why, but there seem to be two types of allergic reaction to a lot of things - the 'skin rash' type and the 'I can't breathe I am puffing up like a balloon' type of reaction. I get skin rashes from penicillin. Its my understanding that once a skin rash develops it will never stop, but might get worse. Of course theere are exceptions to everything. Sorry to hear of your rash but if it makes that med hard to use then I think your right to be looking for a backup.
