Migraine Aura in sleep

For those of you have an aura before migraines, do you ever get them in your sleep.  About once a week for the last 8-9 months, I have been waking up to that migraine aura.  I use to only get migraines around my period, but not anymore.  I'm fortunate to have the aura 1st and can even just take 2 tylenol and go back to sleep and never get the headache.  But, if I sleep completely through the aura, I will have a migraine for days.  Does this happen to anyone else?

Yeah, if I actually get the headache I take Fioricet. It works well for me. I've taken a lot of different meds for them the fioricet works best for now. Thanks for the reply! What do you take?

I wake up with the aura about one a week.  So, if I didn't wake up and take something I would have a migraine once a week, sometimes more.  i rarely get have a full blown migraine because of the aura.  I do however typically have several minor headaches a day.  I take a lot of other medications though, so the regular headaches could be due to that.

My eyes started feeling weird. Then I get small rainbow like flashes. Eyes closed or open, I still have the flashes. If I take something as soon as the flashes start, then I avoid the headache.

I woke up on Sun hurting bad and began vomiting. went to er and they were rude and codensending not able to start an iv to give me the fluids i needed and sent me home . The pain never went away but did decrease. I had to go back on Tues and the same rude treatment with IM meds the pain decreased but never went away. I went again Fri. this time they gave me fluids, I still got my meds IM. this time they gave me a spinal tap to check the fluid for infection. Sometimes I think that the drs don't listen. I had flu about 2-3 weeks ago and I also have crohn's. Everyone around me acts like I am in pain just to mess up their lives. I want to give the pain to them and see how they handle it. Even now i am typing with my eyes closed to keep light level down. Ineed for some one to beleve that the pain I have is the most intence with movement light sound and even change in temp hurts. for some reason the pain begins to increase to the point I want to die.

I usually don't get an aura that I know of, but have been getting terrible migraines for years. I was a work one day a couple months ago and started seeing flashes of light out of my right eye - it got worse and worse until I couldn't see out of my right eye at all. It went away about 20 minutes later. Is that what usually happens? I haven't had that happen since, but still get migraines....

Hi There, i also get the Migraine with Aura, actually i am have one right now just slowly ending, i didn't get too bad of a headache this time though, i woke up to it this morning and it was just the Aura ( i get the zig zags and partial blindness and blur, i also sometimes get screwed up speech where i can't even get my words out properly, and i always get the numbness in my hands, face, mouth, tongue etc, the first time ever got one almost 10 years ago, i ran into the ER and freaked out, i thought i was going blind lol (not funny but ya know), one of the docs took me into a dark room and gave me i think it was imitrex ( i hardly use those meds, makes me feel like i'm gonna have a heart attack, i actually use tylenol or advil, i take like 3) but anyhow, the doctor took me in the dark room and gave me that stuff and then diagnosed me with Aura Migraine (couldn't believe i was one of the 15% that get them) ick anyhow, he told me he used to suffer from them too and almost lost his medical career over it, but he was lucky!!!

Anyways, i have had probably about12-15 Aura migraine attacks in the past 10 years and i am 31 now. Today it was mostly the Aura with a mild headache ( hopefully it won't come on stronger today, i have to go shopping with my youngest daughter) anyhow, i wish you all much success and we all are able to rid this, we shouldn't have to live with this!!
