Hi there!
I'm new to this site, but I'm in desparate need of help - it would be so much appreciated if you can.
Basically, I have had what my doctor thought was 3 mini-strokes in the past month. I have symptoms such as an excruciating pain (predominantly in my eyes, but also neck and head generally), loss of vision, photo-sensitivity (light is a nightmare!), paralysis all the way down the right hand side of my body lasting for several days, slurred speech, vomiting, & a few more thrown in for good measure.
I, eventually, as advised by my doctor visited the hospital. When they said that it was probably due to a migraine I felt like a complete fraud & left. However, upon initial research it appears that this specific type of migraine is rare and potentially very serious. I have had 2 really bad, similar headaches in the past - one when I was 14 & one about 5 years ago when they thought that I had meningitus - the results of the lumbar puncture came back clear.
However, in retrospect I recall banging my head quite seriously (I was unconcious for about an hour) before these recent episodes. The research that I have read suggests that head trauma can initiate these attacks.
My questions are:
1) How serious are they really? Believe me, they feel pretty serious to me!
2) What should I realistically do? Should I go back to the doctors, or hospital (they wanted to keep me in, but I crept out due to sheer embarrassment!) - foolish I know.
It would be so kind of you if anyone can help me with this & I'm confused & worried.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Take care
