Many migraineurs have tried it with varying degrees of success (it can be a fantastic tool!). It's effectiveness depends on two overarching factors:

1) you (some people respond to it, others do not)
2)The quality of the practitioner (this varies widely)

Yeah... I would highly recommend getting an appointment with a well regarded headache specialist. They will be able to tell you specifically what type(s) of headache/migraine you have. Different variants often vary somewhat in their preferred treatment method.

Their box of tools (i.e. medications, biologics, medical devises) is also much larger than a general neurologists.

Do you keep a headache journal? Have you been able to identify any of your triggers yet?
