Recently, I have been diagnosed with Basilar Type Migraines. I have suffered from migraine with nausea since the age of 4. At 18 I had my first visual aura and only had about dozen of them since then. I am 25 years old. Over a year ago, I started having symptoms of right side skin numbness with muscle-ache and vertigo. The auras can last a few hours or a few weeks. I only had a headache once with these auras. The vertigo is most disabling. I find it hard to go to work and function with my home life.
For the past 10 years, I have been able to figure out my migraine triggers. They are MSG, artificial fruit flavors and smells, artificial sugars, too much or too little sleep, soda not taken with food, lack of eating, and I'm probably forgetting a few more.
I have figured out that the vertigo and right side numbness that lasted only hours was triggered by wearing reading glasses while working at a computer. I have to look at a computer almost entirely for my job. I have an appointment with an eye doctor this Friday to get computer glasses. Hopefully they will work. My auras started before I got the glasses so they are not entirely the cause. I've had numbness twice since not wearing my glasses for 3 weeks.
If you suffer from auras, please let me know your known triggers. This is a whole new experience for me and I'd like to hear how people manage to prevent and treat their symptoms.
I just keep telling myself I'm lucky not to suffer a headaches with these symptoms. It helps me from feeling sad about it. I had it under control until now.
