Hi
I am 28 yrs old and female. I think my migraines are excercise induced migraines.
I get auras/migraines when i exert myself, whether it be with 'excercise' or very hot weather.
My migraine starts with an aura that looks like an eyes iris in my right vision, if i look at something bright (like a white sheet of paper) i can see that the 'iris' shaped aura is starting, if i then quickly eat something very sugary like jam i can get the aura to gradually fade, i keep checking my vision against something bright untill it has gone, if i catch it early enough there will be no headache. If i don't notice that the aura has started (i.e. by checking my vision regularly against something bright) then the 'iris' looking shape will get stronger and stronger untill i can't see past it, everything in my vision will be covered in little spikes (spikes from the 'iris' shape coming through) then there will be a very painful headache, dizzyness, nausea, for around 3-4hrs then the rest of the day is recovery.
This started 1 year ago, it took a lot of trial and error for my to figure out that if i eat eat eat i can make it so i don't get the aura shape. However, my career is riding horses so i am 'exercising' /exerting myself all day everyday so it is difficult to know how much i need to eat and it is also difficult spending all my day checking my vision against something white to make sure the aura hasn't started. My husband and i run a horse training business, we have moved around the world in order to make this possible, it means everything to us. I have been managing the auras very well and haven't had a migraine in about 9 months, however, where we have just relocated to currently has very hot weather, it has taken years of work and thousands of $ to get to this location so that is a variable which i can not alter. Due to my job being a very physical one the intense heat increases the exertion and i am finding that i can't keep my blood sugar high enough to stop the auras as between the physical activity, heat and consuming lots of water (which bloats you making it very hard to force food down and also when i drink a lot of water to not a lot of food i seem more likely to start with the aura) i all in all can't do my job/ live my life and manage my auras/migraines.
Any help, advice, guidance would mean the world to me, today i have had to stay in at home whilst my husband tries to run our business by himself as it is yet another hot day, it really feels like my life is being taken away by this problem.
Thank you,
Nikki
