Topamax Causing Sleep Issues??

I've been on Topamax for about two months or so, and about since then I have noticed I wake up every night around 3:00 and 4:00 and cannot get back to sleep. This is not normal for me at all and I am wondering if anyone else has had these issues while on Topamax.

I am so tired from being tired all the time I was put on Topamax because of migraines, but if I cannot get enough sleep, I get migraines, so it kind of defeats the purpose.

I am at 50mgs. But I went as far as going off of it for two weeks and I still had issues sleeping. I haven't been able to figure out why I am having sleep issues, but my doctor gave me a prescription for Ambien, so it is helping.

I'm on Topomax too. I never had any problems with going to sleep or staying asleep. I do have a slight problem with my sleep. I have always been a very vivid dreamer. Before I went on this medication my dreams were usually pleasant. I find myself staying up later and later to avoid going to sleep to avoid the unpleasant dreams that await me in my sleep. I have had a complete sleep study done at an overnight sleep clinic to rule out any sleeping disorders or apnea. Being a vivid dreamer is a good sign that one is reaching a proper level of REM according to the nurse at sleep clinic, mine has just turned into a sort of a nightmare since starting Topomax. At least they are happening less often, but I can never tell.
