Migrane from red wine

I always get migranes that last about 4-5 hours when drinking more than 3 cups of red wine or port wine.

Also, when I take any of these meds: link deleted

Not sure what to do, but would love to be able to start drinking wine again.

I think you found a trigger.......... try a different type of wine

I've cut out a lot of food triggers from my diet since I was 15. I wish I knew about them sooner to avoid all those migraines as a child. Still get them if I unknowingly ingest them like artificial sweeteners and MSG.

Find a new alcoholic beverage that does not trigger a migraine or spit the wine out at those wine tastings.

Try taking an aspirin or a Claritin before you drink your red wine.

I have heard sulfites can be a trigger for some.

Notsosicklygirl is on the spot, sulfites is your trigger. Same for me. I used to eat dried cranberries containing sulfites and it would give me headache. I removed them from my diet and regular wines too. I had sulfite-free wines for a while (expensive and hard to find), Now I am adding them back in my diet. So far so good but I never drink more than 2 glasses of any alcohol (that too occasionally).
