I have had continuous headaches for twelve years. Ice packs help me somewhat. Nothing else has helped me.
Hope you feel better soon.

Diclofenac and ice packs on my neck and temples. I use to take a prescript
ion sleeping pill to sleep through the headache, but now I managed to meditate myself to sleep.

I try to stay very still and in the dark. I notice sometimes the triptans don't work at all, I have never had relief from a single one, I always have to take one and then take a second a couple hours later and then I may get some relief.
For me, dark, quiet and still are necessary when I have a migraine. Also, NSAIDs help. Too bad it makes me very nervous to take them while having UC. I have however had to give in a few times because of immense pain and I didn't suffer any UC symptoms luckily.

Hi Suzanne
I know I have spoken to you in the past...do you have headaches on one side of the head only? I am going to try a cold pack and see how it goes. I am so fed up, I thought the facial pain was bad enough, now the throbbing headaches are pushing me to the limit. It is unrelenting.

Hi Radles
My pain is in both temples and it feels like pressure, bad pressure. No meds have helped me. I keep ice across my forehead and temples. At walmart you can buy, in a box, one gel ice pack and a velcro wrap. it's all i can do to try to stay sane. I have no breaks at all, the pain is continuous.
I sure wish I had answers. i am currently looking into going out of country for treatment. I am in Ontario so I need approval from OHIP. I am researching getting an occipital nerve stimulator.
What kind of pain is yours? do you have a diagonosis.

It breaks my heart reading all your post, because I know how you feel! I have had a Terrible migraine today and it's still with me at 7:00pm tonight. :( Took Frova and that was terrible! Neck pain was unbearable and migraine never left. I have pain on the right side of my head, in my temple area, my right eye, and down into the base of my skull and neck. I don't go back to see my neurologist until the middle of March. Not sure what he will want to try next since we have tried everything that they know to give me. I wish that I could have the nerve stimulator or the nerve decompression surgery, but my insurance will not cover it. :(
I have been diagnosed with intractable chronic migraines. My neurologist still list on my medical forms that I have right temporal lobe epilepsy though I've been seizure free since my brain surgery. There is no cure for epilepsy, so they say ;) but I am believing God has healed me of having seizures for over 25 years of my life. As crazy as it may sound to you, the migraines have been a small price for me to pay to get rid of the seizures. I am just praying that the doctors will be able to come up with something to help me, because the migraines have not let up in months. I would just like to have one day with no pain. sorry if I'm rambling on and on...sometimes you just have to let it out. You know?! :)
God Bless

CCrandall, I have tried imitrex, zomig, Frova, relpax, maxalt, none of those worked. Topamax, zanaflex, klonopin, toradol, fioricet, botox injections, DHE protocol, nerve blocks, lots of supplements...can't remember the other things that the neurologist has had me on. I no longer have seizures, just the migraines to deal with now.

Believe it or not even with Imitrex, Maxalt, and Topamax I still suffer with migraines. Sometimes I do a triad with Excedrin Migraine, lay in complete quiet, turn tv and cell phone off. Place a cool towel over your forehead and eyes and lay very still and breath slowly and deeply till you drift off to sleep. Don't think, don't blink, nothing. Just lay in complete silence. It helps! Oh and by the way, if you are the type of person that think of everything to do when you should just rest...hint hint...it can wait!!!!

doing what luk4dugnit said is good... until you do it in a ER and don't hear the doctor comes in and scream "JESUS" when you have a man's voice talking to you and you don't see anything. The doctor laughs then tries to convince you he's the doctor and not Jesus. What can I say, that doctor scared the beejeebes out of me. That doctor and I have got along great since LOL Ironically, the next time I went to the ER I had a doctor think I was some drug addict and I'm like what? You realize I put on scrubs for my job? So I second medical opinioned that doctor and got the one that scared me- I loved it cuz I didnt have to explain how the migraines are real.

MercyMe..
Have you tried any of the following: Namenda, Savella, Seroquel, cymbalta, methergine, inderal, corgard, zonegran, lyrica? Muscle relaxers: flexeril, baclofen, robaxen? Maybe you have tried and they weren't listed but I thought I'd share..
Beachlife.... when I get a bad migraine.... I combine Imitrex (100 mg) with naproxen (275 miligrams) and .5 or 1 mg Klonopin.. Then I have to go sleep.. for some reason it doesn't work as well if I don't sleep right after.. If I wake up and still have a migraine then I repeat with same regimen (not to exceed two days of these per week).
I also check out the www.mdjunction website under the NDPH (new daily persistent headache) category.. lots of good informations shared too.
