MODERATE TO SEVERE HEADACHES EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR 13 YEARS!!! HELP

I am a 23 year old (soon to be 24) female that has SUFFERED with all kinds of headaches since age 11. I was diagnosed with migraines at that age andhave had multiple tests since then until i was about 17. the last mri showed nothing but like i said, i was 17.
i have a really bad headache right now and this is very hard to do. but i am soo sick of these headaches all the time. i get them each and every day. i wake up every morning with a headache so bad that i can barely see. sometimes they last all day no matter what i do to get rid of them. today i have taken 10 tylenol all together, and am now drinking rum, as the tylenol and the caffeine i had in my coffee for this reason has done absolutely nothing. i want to bash my head into the floor but i know that wont help either. i need to go back to the neurologist but i have no insurance and even if i did, i am soooooo scared!!! this is not normal. not a day goes by that i dont have a headache.
any advice? any idea on what the problem could be? should i be worried about a brain tumor or an aneurysm? i am soo scared! someone please reply ASAP!!!!

How often are you taking over the counter medications? a lot of the problem you are having may be rebound headaches...headaches that are caused by medication such as OTC's.

Are you seeing a doctor? Is is a neurologist or headache specialist and what type(s) of medication are you taking to prevent headaches and then treat them when you do have them?

If you are in really bad shape again in the near future, head to the emergency room.  There is usually one hospital nearby that will take people without insurance. They can at least knock it down temporarily.

About the TYLENOL:  PLEASE, you must not take more than the recommended amount of Tylenol! It is dangerous for your liver. You don't want to need a liver transplant along with headaches.

You should not have to suffer from headaches for so long.  I know you don't have insurance, but do you have relatives who can help?  YOu need to see a headache specialist.  The one thing that you can do by yourself is stop the tylenol and caffeine, because there is some chance that you have rebound headaches.  But that would be very difficult, and since you have been having them since 11, they may very well be migraines that would respond to treatment.

Could you describe them too us?  Where on your head?  Do they ever disappear entirely? Do they move around in your head?  Are there "triggers" such as light, smells, foods, etc?

If you are low income, you may be eligible for medicaid.  There may be a free clinic in your area, and they may able to find a headache specialist that will help you.

has your doctor never suggested you try Triptans, for example Naratriptan ( Amerge in U.S.A. I think )...I've had migraines since mid-eighties, at first I only had paracetamol and it didnt do a thing, I used to lie unable to even talk, just be sick, my son would bring me water that I couldnt drink.  Then I was given Cafergot ( Ergotamine )...this does get rid of the pain but the new doctor I saw when I moved just nagged me about how dangerous it was...I didnt care as long as I got relief.  Eventually he gave me Naratriptan ( Amerge? ) and I now take them almost daily, ( though sometimes with 1 or 2 weeks free ).  I eventually thought it was weather changes that affected me but the doctors I saw all were non-commital, made me feel as though I was silly to suggest this.  Now I'm afraid that they will stop giving me the Naramig one day as it is very expensive.  I just found this site and to see the messages about weather headaches has been so amazing, I was beginning to think I was going crazy.

You can apply for SSDI (Social Security Disability). It is a little bit of a process and you will need a good doctor who is willing to back you up and can write statements saying that you are unable to work due to medical conditions etc.

Hey did anyone ever try Ginger and Feverfew?? I have also been told of good accounts by using B2 and Magnesium. Good luck. Take care to pain free days. I feel your pain. Sorry.

I am new at this so I hope you will all be patient with me. First of all anyone who has ever had a migraine is not a wimp. You are tough to survive them at all. I have been getting them for the past 26 years. I didn't know it was possible to survive such constant pain for so many years. I have tried just about every drug and alot of other stuff besides without much luck. I even remember trying the banging my head against the wall and I definately don't recomend that to anyone!!!!!!!!! Every time I try something new I feel I have exhausted all my options and I feel I will have to just give up if it doesn't work. Then the next thing I know I will run onto another idea to at least give me some form of HOPE. I guess this is why I looked into this website because I was looking for a little hope. I was hoping that maybe talking to others who had some understanding of how I feel It might help. I am not looking for pitty. I guess I just needed to see how this all worked and maybe we can be of help to eachother. Kit

Hello All. I am writing for the first time. My husband suggested I try to find some kind of support group. Someone who understands what I go through every day. He is sick and tired of me being sick and tired. I have not worked for over a year now and it has been very rough on my marriage. I have had migraines since I was around 14. I have been to a neruologist, spine doctor and many pain doctors. They tell me that my C2-5 are very loose and have too much movement. I have had the epidural injections twice to no avail. I am so tired of being in my bedroom in the dark and all alone. Once the pain gets too bad I begin to vomit until there is nothing left and then I call someone - anyone that will take me to the ER. Sometimes they start off with phenergan and torodal even though I tell them it won't work. Then if they are a caring doctor, they will eventually get to the demerol doese and I feel better. But I do run across Doctors that refuse to give me any pain meds, like I am making up the pain and coming the the ER for fun. I usually get yelled at to stay in my room and shut up, from my husband, but my 9 yr old daughter will lay by me and refreshen my cold rag. My 3 yr old daughter just cries next to me while I am vommitting and my 10 yr old son just locks himself in his room.......I so feel like giving up. I am currently using a pain patch called Fentynl 75 mg. and it just keeps them down to 3 or 4 a week. I have muscle relaxers, but they do not even help. Some one somewhere, please tell me that I am not the only 32 yr old mom and wife that is so useless.
