Hi there, first post and looking for help

I have been suffering migranes for several years now, and they often last weeks at a time

I have seen several doctors, a neuroligist

also done a tour of all the triptans

This migrane i have had has been of one of the worst ever

im sitting on the pain scale around 7-8 and spikes

I am stuggling to see at times

This has cause me to suffer from depression which i am receiving treatment for (but the root i beleive is the constant pain)

I dont know where to go now

Should i go to A+E, i am biting my hand so much to take focus away i am bleeding, really becoing unberable

I had eye pain and vision problems with my headaches and my neurologist sent me to a nero-opthamologist. they ran a ton of eye tests to check for any eye problems. you might want to also consider another MRI, or get one if you havent. rule out or see if you might have a brain tumor or cyst. i have had headache problems all my life but they got unbearable in like the past 3 years. i had a bunch of MRI's in that time and finally one of them picked up a cyst on my pituitary gland. all the MRI's i have had through out my life just didnt pick it up, missed the spot it was at. they only do cuts every so many mm. depending on the size of the tumor/cyst it could be completely missed in the imaging. I had surgery to remove the cyst and it helped my headaches a ton! also if your neurologist isnt trying a lot of stuff to try to get you help go to a different one, sometimes that can help a lot. have you looked into botox for the headaches? its suppose to reduce the strength of your headaches by about 80% right now im trying to get approval from my insurance for it so i can get rid of my headaches im having now. my neurologist thinks the headaches im having are related to my seizures. so get an EEG also if you havent.

Are you seeing a headache specialist or just a neurologist? I recommend finding a neurologist who is specialist in headache. You can go to the migraine research foundation website or National Headache foundation to find one in your area.

You mentioned that you have tried all kinds of meds? There are always new ones popping up. What have you tried so far?

Have you tried beta blockers? Channel blockers? Anti-convulsants? Flunarizine has been shown to be a pretty effective calcium channel blocker but it is not available in the U.S. I'm not sure where you are located? Sometimes finding the right combination and dosing is important. The drug Namenda (originally used for alzheimers) is showing promise as a preventative. Also, Savella (anti-convulsant) is a new one that is showing promise.

As an abortive, I use a combination of Imitrex, Naproxen and klonopin. I limit it to no more than 1-2 times a week, to avoid rebound headaches.

Are you also taking supplements? Magnesium, Co-enzyme Q and B2 (riboflavin) works for some people as a preventative.

I also want to add. If you are having a specific spike right now.. Have you tried going to your nearest hospital? You'll need to go to the ER.. they can do an IV infusion of DHE, or Toradol, reglan and a narcotic. This should at least break the cycle.

Savella is an SNRI not anticonvulsant
