I have suffered wiuth bruxism for many years and have been using Grindcare for a number of years too! I have found a few thread on this forum and other forums on the internet with mentions from current grindcare users, but think it would be great to have a dedicated thread /forum for grindcare users to share there experiences - positive and negative, so we can all help each other.

heu apollo66. I responded to your question in the old thread on TMD. Hope it helps. It took a while for me to grok how tiny the electricity of muscle contractions are, and therefore how important it is to calibrate and place the Grindcare pad correctly. Hope you have solved your problems with the new foil-wrapped pads. I literally had been wishing they would do sealed packaging like that, since I am always using expired gel pads. To get expired gel pads to work, I have to clean the temple with alcohol and moisten the dots, but I haven't had any trouble doing it.

How's it working for you after re-jiggering your senstivity (settings) and calibration (6)% or more of your force)?

So you are still on the black card pads ? I would love to go back to them. I would be relaly interested to hear your views when you start using the new pads. As Imetnioned on the other thread I cant change the sensitivity on my version of Grindcare ,so will have to conatc the manufacturer.

Thanks fr posting here . I figure if we can get people positing here ,that when you google grindcare it comes up higher in the search results ,so more people will findit and post . Thats the plan!

Hi all,

I've been reading up on Grindcare and called their number, they dont seem very well organized as of yet in the US. I called them and they gave me three numbers of dentists who apparently offer Grindcare as a service in NY (where I live). Their secretaries hadn't heard of it which makes me suspiscious. I'm awaiting the dentists' phone calls though to confirm.

As of right now, I am scheduled to recieve botox injections into my massester and temporalis muscles on March 8th. Have been suffering with pain related to bruxism for years. Now that I have heard about Grindcare, I am hoping to find a dentist who can provide me with a prescription and help me rent out a machine so that I dont have to go through with the botox, as it sounds like it doesnt offer a permanent solution to the bruxing/clenching I experience at night. The dentist who performs them is very good though, and he said with three sessions of injections it could stop my bruxing/clenching.

Blah, I'd rather try the Grindcare, hopefully I'll get word from the dentists soon. Does anyone know how much it costs to rent out grindcare? Do you have to pay even if you have a prescription? What should I do if these dentists dont offer Grindcare? Any other way of renting out a machine? So many questions, guess I should call the grindcare response line again.

I just saw your message. Just to say definitely try Grindcare if you can before you have the botox!

I have been there! 15 yrs of pain, sleep probs and all sorts of muscle issues caused by bruxism and tried everything ! I was close to botox and actually met several specilalists to discuss options, but delayed it as I was unsure and was glad i did. From lots of research its seems it MAY help initally in the short term( came across many cases where its not helped people at all ), or the relief /improvement is short term and after a time you build up a tolerance to it , and end up killing the nerves in the muscles making it a lot harder to treat the bruxism in the future .Definitely chat with gizmo girl as she has actually been down that road and can give you a more informed advice.


If there is anyway you can try Grindcare before then I am pretty confident it would help and avoid doing the botox. After trying all sorts treatments over the years its the one thing that has really helped me (massively !) .

its a shame its slow to establish itself in the US ,as here its easy to get ho,d of with out prescription ,and the support is very good! My advice would be to google Medotech (the company that makes grindcare ) and call them in Denmark direct. Explain the issue you are having trouble getting clear information or access to a grindcare device in the US ! i am pretty sure they will want to know this and will help put you in touch with some where ,where you can get a Grindcare device to trial. I'd say if you can give yourself 2 weeks two try Grindcare you probably won;'t want to go ahead with the botox. Keep me posted and feel free to ask anymore questions and I will try and help if i can.

Hi Kay,

I just wondered if you did go ahead with the botox and if so how it went ? I have had some support from teh manufacturers and fixed the issues I had with the gel pads and its now working great for me again.

I hope you get the opportunity to try it out at some point.

BUYER BEWARE ...

I have purchased a Grindcare in early 2012.

The device has not helped me to reduce my clenching, in fact the numbers showed absolutely no down trend, even with the higher stimulation degrees.

Potential Grindcare customers should know that THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE.

I have called to get a refund within the guarantee period and they have simply been ignoring my request in spite of my repeated calls and emails.
I am stuck with a 1150$ device that is useless to me.

Is this the kind of company you want to trust your money and well-being with ?

Hey Clench Pain,

Im suprised you have had absolutely no success at all . Have you tried the unit for a month ? I use it in the UK where there is a high lvel of customers support ,so if you do have any problems its easy to contact them and get advice . I'd recommend googling the makers and contacting their head office (not US based) . They've generally been really good with offering support and help with the unit. I think they would definitely like to know of problems you are having. Ive used grindcare for about 3-4 years ,but it is relatively young in the US market and I;m pretty sure they;d also like to know if the support over there isnt as good as it is here.

I see the company that makes grindcare (Medotech A/S) has sold off their assets and will not be producing anymore grindcare units. What happened? This sucks because my TMD has just started acting up again.

I was aware of the buy out by a japanese customer ( purely because it was impossible to get replecement gel pads for a couple of months ,whilst the take over was taking place). But that is news to me !!!!! I fortunately have 1 unit ,but not sure will happen when that finally wears out ! I will keep you posted if I find out more.

hello! I have finally received the grind care, now I have a problem, I always get the "verify stimulator" alert screen and the stimulator battery icon does not display when I connect it to the grind dock for charge.
when I press the "on" button on the stimulator I get a red led lighting
do you know about this problem? can you help me? I haven't found anything useful on the internet or in the manual
can you help me? I think I wasted a lot of money!!!

Unfortuantely I don't personally have a solution , but you may want to try here

The original company that produced Grindcare was bought out and the new owners( japanese co.) chose to stop making new units, however current units can sdtill be repaired by going through to the technical support section on this website. You didn't mention where you are in the world and also if you bought the unit 2nd hand . These guys are based in Denmark ,but even if you are in the US if you post your details to them hopefully they will be able to advise you.
