Hey guys,
I just had to vent about my last trip to the ER a couple of days ago. I was the first person to sign in to the Urgent Care Facility, I was triaged, and taken directly to a patient room. It took almost two hours for the Doctor to finally show up, although my Dad could see and hear what he was doing all over the place. When he finally came into my room, he asked me what I wanted him to do for me, all the time he was looking at my hospital records. I told him what my regular treatment was, a shot of Dilaudid and Phenergan, with a small script (10) of Percocet to tide me over until I could get in to see my doctor. I even brought my notebook of information regarding everything he would need to know about my migraines. He picked it up, opened the front cover, then just dropped it on the bed.
He told me that I had too many migraines (DUH!!!) and he was not going to give me my regular treatment. I tried to stand up for myself and explain that over years and year of trial and error, this was the only treatment that would work for me, it just totally fell on deaf ears. Its really hard to argue when you are in that much pain. He mumbled something about giving me a shot and and putting me on oxygen for a while, then left, never to be seen again.
The oxygen was really annoying, and they used that full mask thing, so I started getting really claustrophobic, but they wouldn't let me take it off early. Finally when the nurse came to check me out, I asked her the name of the medication of the shot he gave me. It was Draperidol, which I later looked up on the internet and found out it was the injectible form of DRAMIMINE!!!
Can you believe that Crap??? I had a raging migraine attack and Dr. High and Mighty gives me a shot of something used for motion sickness? How sick and twisted is that? Did he think that if he looked like he was treating me, I would somehow be miraculously cured? What a sick jerk! I told the nurse on the way out that he had a God complex, 'cuz now I still had a major migraine and I was really ticked off!!! All that time and money spent, and not a bit of relief gained.
Thank God the Hospital sends out a follow up questionaire after each visit because I can't wait to get a hold of it. That Doctor will rue the day he treated me like a piece of meat instead of a human being.
OK, Think I'm finished venting now.
Thanks,
Leigh Ann
