Diagnosis: Chronic Daily Resistant Migraines
Age migraines started: childhood
How often: When it's bad - everyday, when it's good, 2 times a week
One sided pain: Yes
Which side: Alternates
Affect any other part of body: Behind eyes, forehead, neck
Nausea: Yes
Aura: More like visual acuity (i.e. narrowing vision)
Family history: Mother and sister
Known triggers: Lack of sleep, cigarette smoke, alcohol, weather changes (especially rain / clouds), cold/sinus, skipping meals, caffeine, food (chocolate, sulfites, any -ites, preservatives, chemicals, msg, soy sauce, crab, orange (citrus)), strong odours.
What makes them worse: Light, sound, excercise, thinking too hard, heat,
How many days a month miss work/school: everyday
Medications tried (Rx): Imitrex, Neurontin, Toradol, Tylenol 3s, Effexor, Morphine, Topamax, Amerge, Maxalt, Gravol, Melatonin, Magnesium, Calcium, Nadolol, Celexa, Ativan, Tylenol 1s, Excedrin, Aleve, Advil
What medication(s) work: Amerge, MS Contin, Nadolol, Topamax (slightly) Celexa, T3s in combination with Toradol, Gravol and Ativan - when Amerge doesn't work, Tylenol 1s
Alternative pain relief methods tried: Massage, botox, accupuncture, naturopath, change birth control methods, elimination diet, acupuncture, mouth guard
MRI, CAT Scan, PET Scan, other scans: CAT Scan with no abnormalities found
Wanting to try: Nothing, I'm out of things to try. Narcotics are working well for me.
