Hello Everyone.
I am a fellow sufferer, and need some group advice. I had been taking Relpax for the past year. I typically get one migraine, and cluster headache (at the same time) per month. Our hypothesis on this is that they are because I have hormonal problems. If I don't get my period (I have PCOS) then its like the hormones back up in me, and give me a migraine. Long story short, I have to take Provera to start a period, so as to prevent such migraine. But now the Relpax doesn't work for me. Before it didn't take all the pain away, or keep me at work, but it did keep me out of the ER. So Wednesday I got one, and ended up having to go to the ER. The Doc ordered me two rounds of toprol and dilaudid, with the antinausea meds. After the 2 rounds of that and still being in tremendous pain, he tried a new "cocktail" it had another antinausea med, Ativan, and a steroid for inflamation. All I can remember is that I vomitted like 8 times, and noting would stop it. BUt the combo of everything finally allowed me to go home and pass out. That to me was the best medicine ever practiced! Why, instead of pumping me full of all these pain meds, can't they just give me someting for my stomach, and a sedative? I also don't know if it was the steriod or what, but the next morning when I woke up, I felt great. I didn't have the migraine "hangover" that makes you feel the pain if you bend over, or laugh too hard. So I don't know if our tiny rural ER Doc stumbled apon something here, or if its already been practiced? I just found the website for FROVA. Its a menstral migraine med. Has anyone used it?? What are your suggestions? I'm out of resourses here, can anyone help???
Thanks,
Shannon
