Imitrex Tolerance

I think maybe you can build up a tolerance to Imitrex or it somehow becomes less effective--I'm not sure which one! I used it for a while alot with my cluster headaches in the injection form at 4mg stat dose and it was great-immediate relief (wow)...

I used it for several months, several times a week (usually the max. amount that I was allowed per week)...it was an almost immediate fix for my clusters...It would help the migraines, but it was very seldomly the first choice of abortive to use, since I needed to save them for my clusters. When out of cycle, I did use for migraines...

I had to stop using it per doc, but I did notice the effectiveness decreased to little to no effect over time. Since, I had to stop using it I was not able to give it more chances to see if it would work again, etc.

What form of Imitrex are you using? How often do you use it? Take care!

I've had a real bad run of headaches where I've had often 8 or more in a row. I take Imitrex 100mg (which you cannot split anymore because if you do it destroys its effectiveness) as often as I need it, trying not to exceed the limit of two dosages a day. But I have no health insurance so I've spent around $4,000 in the last year or so for Imitrex alone. I've just found "Together Rx Access" which pays about $50 of the $200+ that each script costs. I appreciate your comments, and your caring. I'm a Christian so I walking by faith, and not by sight. So I'm not moved by what things look like. I'm only moved by the Word of God and what it says about illness and disease. It tells me that "by Jesus' stripes I'm healed" and I will stand on that promise even if the headaches never go away. When I die and go to heaven I'll still be saying "by Jesus' stripes I'm healed." That's called faith. Believing in spite of what you see or feel, but only believing God Word and the promises and power therein to heal, deliver, prosper, and bring peace, and joy, and love.
