Jason,
I have suffered from migraines since childhood. During my teenage years, I started getting jabbing pains in my head, usually over my right ear, that felt like someone was sticking me with an ice pick. If I had several of these, I knew a migraine was coming on. Years down the road, the frequency of the pains decreased, but they now could hit me anywhere on my head. The pain is so intense, I immediately freeze up and grab for the point that hurts. It only lasts a few seconds, but it is really awful.
A lot of your symptoms sound like they are muscular, coming up from your neck. You may not be aware of how much stress you may have locked up in there. You may want to investigate an anti-anxiety medication, muscle relaxer, and/or a good massage therapist. I had a huge hump between my shoulder blades for years that was just accumulated stress from a stressful job and a bad marriage. As soon as I got away from those things, and with the help of a divorce and a few good neck rubs from my Dad, the hump and the accompanying discomfort went away. Of course, once I released all that tension, my migraines got worse, as they tend to do when you uncork the bottle. Oh well.
My best advise is to start a notebook and keep track of each time you encounter some noteworthy occurance. This will be very helpful, and over a period of time, you may see patterns develop. Track date, time, symptoms, mood, environment, stress level, what you ate that day, what medications you took, etc...anything that might be relavent to the event. This information should also help you when you see a doctor.
Best of luck and let us know how it goes.
