stroke like symptoms

i have been told by my neuro thats some people are affected by these type of symptoms but everyone i seem to talk with tell me they never heard of that before am i the only one?

Hi jphsr,

Welcome to Healing Well. Are you getting loss of the use of one side of your body with your headache or drooping of your face with your headache? What type of Headache has your Neuro diagnosed you as having?

Sorry for the questions just trying to build a better picture of what is happening to you, just sorry you are suffering!

hello ann thank you for the welcome well it started out with the facial droop with the headache and has progressed to the last one i had i loss my right eye and my right arm and hand they are saying i have complex migraines i still just cant beleive thats all there from the headaches no problem thats what i expected when i joined and part of the reason i did hoping to find something out....thanks again and you also take care jphsr

Hi Jphsr,

Yes 'Complicated Migraines' is just what the term indicates, complicated or complex meaning there are a lot of different forms of migraines all in one condition it seems! The facial droop is an Autonomic symptom and so is the eye droop which is usually found with Cluster Headache but can be found in migraine too! I have the eye droop myself and it can look as if I am starting to have a stroke if I am having a bad attack!!!

The loss of power in one side of the body usually comes along with Hemiplegic Migraine and can often be mistaken for a full blown stroke! It sounds as though your Neuro knows his stuff and you should get good support there. You are not the only one that suffers like this, but there are not as many of you as with the more common forms of migraine!

hello ann ...and thank you for the information they just kept on telling me it was coplex migraines but never really went to indepth on what exactly was going on and yes when i had my first really bad attack they ran about every test they have just to rule out a stroke which i was very happy it wasnt that but it still is bothersome that i never really know how bad it will be and if they are going to cause any permanent damage to the point of not regaining everything back again...yeah i changed my neuro and went to a headache clinic and thats where i got the complex migraines from thanks again jphsr

Hi Jphsr,

Great that you have got the Headache Clinic, stick with that and you will not go far wrong! Here in the UK it is very hard for some folk to get anywhere near a Headache Specialist or Clinic!!!! Don't be afraid to ask them questions, they should be able to give you all the information you need!
