In the instance of my husband dealing with migraines, it took three years and about a dozen physicians until a doctor finally diagnosed migraines and prescribed a drug that will hopefully help prevent the migraines but it is taking months to get to the therapeutic level.
In the three years leading up to the diagnosis, we tried many, many different vitamens, herbs, holistic medicine, chiropractic, massage, change in diet, etc...nothing helped. When the headaches, dizziness and vomiting kept getting worse, what else is a person to do? Not take the medicine prescribed? My husband has not left the house without me since November 2006 and he has not driven since then either. When you are at your wits end, it doesn't make any difference if it is a drug that may or may not be addictive, you are going to take it. At least that is our experience.
