I have gone through the whole prescript
ion hell of trying to find something to fend off these horrible migraines. I also have fibromyalgia and have a sleep disorder where I don't go into a deep sleep (I hardly ever dream). They have given me all kinds of sleep medications that do make me sleep, but then it's just more medications.
We were faced with losing our health insurance and I went into our local Whole Foods and asked the nutritionist if there was anything she suggested. I told her my symptoms of years of pain, not sleeping, fuzzy thinking, anxiety, etc. She immediately said you are deficient in magnesium. She directed me to a type of magnesium that dissolves in boiling water, so it gets into your system quicker. She told me to start off slow, because it can cause loose bowels. I take multivitamins and they have magnesium in them, but this type apparently gets in the system a different way.
I thought, yeah, I have tried everything else. Well, I went home and drank the magnesium tea and guess what, I dreamed, glorious dreams. And my migraine was GONE. I usually wake up with headaches and have to take something to make it through the day. I felt so good it was incredible. I kept drinking my tea every night and no more migraines. In fact, I was sleeping so much better, I felt like a hundred bucks. The magnesium seems to really put me into a deep sleep, without any pharmaceutical medications!
Then I went without it for about
4 days, and I got a migraine. I made some mag tea, drank it, laid down, slept for an hour and my headache was gone. No drugs. Just magnesium citrate. It is hard to find the powder type of magnesium, but it does get in the bloodstream faster. I haven't tried the pills, I just know the powder works for me. I wonder if there are many people with magnesium deficiency like me? I have been on magnesium for over a month now. As long as I take it daily, I don't have a migraine. I also have not woken up in the middle of the night, unable to fall back asleep. I did not have any PMS this month. My stress level has decreased and I am finally starting to feel like a normal human being again. I'm sure this isn't the "cure," for everyone, but gosh, I want to shout it from the rooftops. I feel so much better!
