I had a weird experience yesterday and after posting about
it on another board, someone said it might of been a migraine with aura. I have never heard of that until I googled it last night. Now I'm hoping by turning to some people who suffer from migraines regularly, I could get some more input about
it. This is what happened to me...
I was checking out at Publix and my right eye started giving me problems. I lost my peripheral vision in my right eye for bit. I couldn't see anything to the right of me while looking straight. My boyfriend was sitting right next to me in the car but I couldn't see him at all when I was looking forward and driving. I had to let him drive home because I couldn't see the cars next to me to switch lanes unless I turned my head completely. I also got a very bad headache which I think is due to my eyes straining to see correctly. Well, when I got home I took some pain medicine for my head, laid in bed and turned on the TV. My eye sight got better about 30 minutes later but my headache got intensly worse. It was horrible. Finally it went away but then my right hand felt as if it was asleep. I tried to shake it off but it wouldn't go away. It was pretty numb. I started to feel it on the right side of my upper lip as well. It spread quickly from my right hand all the way up my arm to the right side of my chest. It spread from my lip to the whole side of my face too. It was weird though because as it started spreading, it would get better from where it first started... ex. As it moved from my fingers to my forearm, my fingers regained feeling but then my entire forearm was numb. It lasted about 10 minutes. Ofcourse I freaked out and called my MS doctor. By the time they paged her and she returned the call, it all had gone away. She suggested I just relax and stay cool and if it happened again, then I should be concerned. She doesn't think it is MS related because it went away quickly. She is more blaming it on my intracranial high pressure which kind of makes sense. It could easily mess up my vision and cause headaches but numbness? That part doesn't make sense.
That is what I posted after it happened. I have diagnosed MS and intracranial pressure. I am not on any new medications. After reading about migraine aura's, it seems to fit so well but I'm still not sure since I have other conditions which could cause this as well. I do not suffer from migraines, or I don't think I do. I rarely get headaches but I have gone to the hospital once before for a horrible headache which was about 5 months ago. Other than that, it's pretty normal.
Any suggestions, comments, or just anything to clear this up a bit for me? I'm really confused =/
