Hi,
I have had migraines for 10 years, I am 36 years old, and have been on fiorcet since day one. It works. A few times a year I may vomit because I get so sick with the headache.
I typically take 30 a month because that is what I am given - I have refilled early and taken 40 in a month, but then my Dr. wants to slap my hand for it - and I get the lecture about fiorcet being bad and triptans are the way to go. I take vicodin if the fiorcet doesn't cut it every once in a while, not even once a month. I have tried the triptans - they don't work for me - period, if they did I would gladly take them. I have been to Dr. after Dr. - I am just so discouraged. I have been through the MRI, and neurologist ten years ago when the migraines frist started. My headaches are allergy related, I am related to allergies related to the environment like certain trees and certain grass, so it isn't like I can stop eating whatever and problem solved.
I have asked my Dr. for 40 a month so that I have plenty if needed. I don't want to go to the ER.
I am a vegetarian, try to watch what I eat, exercise several times a week and try ( being a mom sometimes a full 8 hrs isn't possible)... I don't drink much at all - I may drink 2-4 glasses of white wine a month, that is it. Of course my diet isn't perfect, and so, I am not trying to sound like - hey I do everything by the book all of the time.
I am located in North Texas (Dallas Fort Worth area) and I just wondered if anyone could just give me some advise. I am tired of being harassed to just take triptans. My Dr. even told me last week - by the book everything I do is wrong for you - she meant that the fiorcet isn't good and I should just be on some type of daily triptan drug or the triptan's like amerge that you take when you first notice onset.
Does anyone live in North Texas that can let me know of a good Dr, and also - I just want advise - my dosage has been 30 for ten years so it isn't like I am asking for 80 pills a month. I am tired of feeling like my dr thinks I just like to pop pills for fun. Has anyone experienced triptans not working for them, or am I just a freak of nature?
Any advise would be welcomed!
I want to wish you all a headache free day!
Thanks!!!
