My 12 year old son has had headaches for 3-4 years now. He has severe migraines? with the nausea and vomiting when they are intense. Currently he does not take any kind of prophylaxis. HE takes Tylenol or Excedrin when he gets the headaches. Sometimes a sinus pill gets him some relief. Usually the Tylenol is worthless for him. HIs eyes are OK, he has had a CT scan... I am trying to get him to pay strict atttention to diet in an effort to identify "triggers." He has seen a neurologist, 2 yrs ago, this guy advised watching his diet, also my son is very intense with school work and all that he does. He is a worrier of sorts. He is a very active healthy 12 year boy that just works hard and plays hard. He does have some perfectionist tendancies. Anyway, what should we do? See a different neuro Doc? or follow up with him again? I feel so bad for him and want to get him some relief. I have Migraines as well but not nearly as often as he does. His headaches kind of cycle in the range of 3-4 per week (usually during the school year) to 1 every 2 weeks. Are prophylaxis drugs good? Any advice is appreciated>
