Hi,

i am now 22 years old i live in London, i have suffered unbearable headaches now for 5 long painful years since being 17 years old.

My family has taken me everywhere possible in London, UK. I have been under all the best headache people over here and currently still am under one of the reported best Headache Neurologists Prof Goasdby at Queens Square Neurological Institute.

After gaining NO success!! or improvement!! for now over 5 years of constant appointments, prescriptions, treatments & thousands of pounds... my family have now no alternative other than to very soon plan to re-mortgage our family home in order to fund a trip to America to visit the MHNI Institute in Michigan which is reported to have an 80% success rate with headache patients and currently be one of if not the best place in the world to date, for people wanting to gain relief of all forms of severe Headaches!

I am planning to go to Michigan in the next 3-4 weeks, and already have been in contact with the hospital in regards to going over there.

*** PLEASE ***

CAN ANYONE IF THEY HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE, OR INFORMATION IN ANYWAY WHICH IS TO DO WITH MICHIGAN HEADACHE INSTITUTE & POST IT HERE OR EMAIL ME DIRECTLY, AS I WOULD APPRECIATE IT MORE THAN THE WORLD...

My wishes & love go out to all of the people living a life like mine, we should not have to live like this...

Of course going to Michigan if i do will be an enormous decision & i tell you now to everyone if i was to go there and get cured i would do nothing more than go to all the media back home here in the UK and make as many people around take notice to HEADACHES, which behind closed doors kill & destroy people lives.

The world clearly needs to wake up to the growing concerns and repercussions of debilitating, chronic headaches.

Richard, I am currently a patient there and I will contact you directly; in my mind there is no better place and my Dr. is the best. They have brought me back from the depths of despair and given me hope and pain free days.

LdyJane - my neuro has suggested MHNI several times - and yesterday basically said I should really go.  I wondered how the rest of your experience was and how you are doing now.

  I am also concerned about finances (although is most important).  It is difficult to determine if insurance will cover.

 I have had migraines since I was 9.  The were also pretty frequent.  But now I have 2 litttle kids and they seem to be worse.  I also was in a bad car accident in august - amazingly I walked away fine - but am wondering if my headaches are worse from the double whiplash...my neuro said going wld help asses everything from all disciplines....maybe too much info.

 I really just wanted to know if you tht your stay was worth while 0 I wld be coming from CT.

Dear keep, welcome! I've been with MHNI since 2002; Dr. Rozen was my Doctor. I say was, because we were just informed that he's leaving the practice to return to New York. Since you're in CT, I would go to New York! Dr. Rozen has seen me through the worst and I am much better because of him.

Finances are an issue with MHNI, I won't lie about that; the first visit runs $1,000 (maybe more now, I don't know), but for that you get 6 - 8 hours of attention with nurses, psychologists, physical therapists and your Doctor. Each follow-up visit runs $125 and they do not accept insurance (if you see one of the psychologists there's another charge, but that's a whole 'nother story!). You pay up front and they will file for you, but they do not accept assignment. I'm fortunate, I have BCBS and have a non-participating, out of network referral, I still pay up front, but I get reimbursed for everything, minus my co-pay.

They've hired someone new that I'll be seeing in April; I'm concerned about it, because I believe that Dr. Rozen is the very best. There are other Doctors there, I'm not experienced with them and cannot comment on their effectiveness. MHNI, however, has helped so many people and they look at so many different facets that encompass the make-up of head pain, that yes, going there is worth it. I do know of people that come out here for a work-up and diagnosis and then go home for treatment, coming back here for "tune-ups"; it's another option maybe.

I do not know where Dr. Rozen is moving too; I am planning on giving the new guy a shot, but if I get worse I will find him and travel to see him in NY...if he is practicing; he sent me an e-mail and told me that he is going to be do a lot more research in his new position?, so his time with patients may be limited.

So, on one hand, coming to MHNI is very much worth your time and money, on the other hand, I would follow Dr. Rozen anywhere!

Definitely do not go to MHNI. I went there out of desperation, it was my 11th hospitalization and by far my worst experience with doctors or treatment. Every patient I spoke with there were having very similar experiences due to the recklessness and carelessness of the physician (and founder), Dr. Sapher.
