Scotoma? Blind spots?

When I was a child I use to sit in class and suddenly notice that part of the teachers face seemed odd, then I would become aware that the face was missing.. my visual fields would fill with scentilating scotomas and then after nearly an hour I would come out of it but would have a headache.  Around 19 I noticed what appeared to be scentilating "things" on the edges of my "blind spots" thus bringing attention to them.  Those "things" with my blind spots have never gone away.  They are sometimes better, sometimes worse.  Recently I developed a new one more center field -- I have been told these are migraine equivelants.  Ha anyone ever had similar experiences?  I'm especially wondering about the ones that don't go away.  I was hospitalized for this as a child -they thought it was a brain tumor-that was 40 years ago.  Any feedback would be appreciated.
