I have been dealing with migranes for a long time.  I had a CT scan about 1 1/2 years ago and and MRI before that.  I have been to urgent care many times for Demerol/Phenergen shots, and am having a hard time getting rid of this migrane.  I used to take imatrex, not working anymore, now taking Maxalt, not sure that is working, Neurologist put me on Lyrica, was working for 2 weeks then had cervical spinal fusion almost 4 weeks ago.  Went off Lyrica, then a week after surgery started back up.  Isn't working anymore, neurologist told me to take 2 75mg a day, they make me feel like I am going crazy.  So much pressure in right side of head, starting in back and going to ear.  Ear numbness too. 

I don't know what to do next.  I feel like I have a brain tumor or something.  I see my neurologist in 4 days again, think I am going to demand another MRI.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I feel like I am going crazy

I am so sorry you are going through all of this. I am too so I feel your pain. try this book "Heal your Headache by David Bucchovic? I think that is how you spell it. Follow the regime I am on it now 48 hours...so we shall see. I have been diagnosised with Menieres Disesase (ear) and I am not convinced now - I think this is all migraine. You are not crazy and there is stuff ont he numbness in the book - made me feel SO MUCH BETTER> These people have been doing this much longer than me! ALso look at your diet there are a TON of migraine triggers - maybe you are eating one right now? I was according to the book. So God bless and I am wishing you the best!

Thanks so much for the reply and the book info, I will get that and read it.  What did they find out with you?  Did you have an MRI done?  Do you have this numbness, pressure on one side of your head all the time??  What are you taking for yours?

Actually, if you ask any persons in the medical field, they dont know the difference between a headache or migraine unless they experience it themselves. You do indeed another mri, perhaps a nerve conduction test to see about carpal tunnel. ALso if you feel you have a tumor or something like you do say, do not settle for anything until you have answers. You can also get second opinions, third, fourth, fifth etc. Also start a journal of anything you eat and drink and look for common factors. Keep another journal when migraines start, what makes them worse, anything like auras or numbness. THis can not only help you find migraine triggers, but maybe answers as well.

Hi there im new to this just wonder if anyone can shine a light on wahst could be wrong with me. IV read some posts and im a litle cofussed wether i have aura.... on friday i was rushed in to hospital after calopsing at home i has felt a smack in the left side of my face and had a numbness feeling in my left arm (thought id had a strock) im 36 and was very scared. iv has a ct scan mri scan and a lumber punture done which thank god came back clear. i returned home on sunday with no answers to what was wrong after waking this morning felling like crap head feeling like it doesnt belong went to the doctors and he said it is a migrain he has given me a provention tablet called pizotifen. i came home an slept for 7 hours but sill have the pain and altho the numbness has gone from my arm it has a tingely like feeling and feels sore to touch sad

What are the symptoms of a migraine with aura?
Migraines with aura account for less than 20% of all migraines. But that’s little comfort when you are the one who falls victim to this painful headache.

Headache is considered the symptom common to all types of migraines -- although a few children experience an aura without a headache. Migraine pain usually occurs in the front of the head on one or both sides of the temples. It may throb or be steady.The headache may last from 4 to 72 hours.

Other symptoms of migraine may include any of these:

nausea
vomiting
yawning
irritability
low blood pressure
feeling “hyper”
sensitivity to light, sounds, or motion
dark colors under the eyes
A migraine with aura comes with additional symptoms, which often begin about 30 minutes or less before the headache. These early symptoms are called a prodrome.The prodrome or aura may last for 5 to 20 minutes, or it may continue even after the headache subsides. Symptoms of aura include:

blind spots or scotomas
blindness in half of your visual field in one or both eyes (hemianopsia)
seeing zigzag patterns (fortification)
seeing flashing lights (scintilla)
feeling prickling skin (paresthesia)
weakness
seeing things that aren’t really there (hallucinations)
