Status Migraine

My doctor thinks now that I have “status migraine” and not rebound. He says there is nothing that can be done other than to keep trying other pills until it stops. DHE does not work, steroids are not working, and anti-inflammatory meds are not working. Ahh!
I’m going to get a 2nd opinion from another neurologist tomorrow.
I am very frustrated! I am also depressed because my family has decided to cancel our trip to Europe (that was my graduation present) because I can’t be like this overseas… plus I probably wont enjoy it if I’m sick.
Today my head pain comes in strong for a short time then goes away. I have just been taking benadryl today. I have noticed two other odd things and wondered if anyone else has had this happen…
1. I got all this pressure like someone was blowing a balloon up in my head behind my ear and then it went away and as soon as it did the whole right side of my face went numb. When I told my doctor this over the phone he did not think anything of it…or didn’t believe me…
2. The days when my migraine gets really bad I am completely famished! Its like I can’t get full. Then on a day like today I am not hungry at all….

Well the 2nd doctor put me on another regiment of pills. I wanted to give it a few weeks to see what happens. Although since starting his treatment I have not needed any relpax. I have had some headaches but the pain has been manageable. I just take Benadryl when I notice my head starting to hurt. (I don’t understand how this works but it does help!) He said it would take about 3 weeks for the medication to take full effect. Currently he has me on,

CoQ10 200 Mg 1 in the morning and 1 at night
Magnesium oxide 250 mg 1 in the morning and 1 at night

topamax 25 mg (for the 1st two weeks then I increase to 50 mg)
lexapro 5mg ( for the 1st two weeks then increase to 10 mg)

I also take Omega 3, 400 mg B2, and a multi vitamin, and 20 minutes of hypnosis daily

I'm also finishing taking a round of prednisone

I have taken all these things separately before but never all together.
I will keep people updated on how this treatment plan works! I am already feeling much better than I did!
